Jack Perry just copied CM Punk’s line in AEW, and I have no idea why - Cageside Seats

On the Raw after WrestleMania 42, CM Punk closed out his promo segment with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes by saying the following line: > “I just got to stay ready, because you never know when a championship opportunity is just gonna fall out of the sky.” Punk disappeared from WWE for over two months, only to return in July and win the WWE championship on his first night back. Since then, Punk, Rhodes, and WWE commentators have mentioned multiple times how Punk delivered on his word and cashed in when a championship opportunity fell out of the sky. With that in mind, my eyebrows immediately raised during tonight’s (July 25) episode of AEW Collision when “Jungle” Jack Perry began his promo with very similar verbiage. > “My mission is to become the AEW world champion. But, when an opportunity falls out of the sky, you take it.” Perry is referring to the opportunity he has on Sunday (July 26) at AEW Redemption to become the number one contender for the AEW International championship by competing in a 6-way ladder match. I can’t imagine it’s a coincidence that Perry used the same “opportunity falls out of the sky” line that is a focus of Punk’s current story in WWE, given the history between Punk and Perry that led to CM’s termination from AEW. However, I also don’t get what the point is of copying that specific phrase. It’s not like it was accompanied by a jab or joke at Punk’s expense. Am I losing my mind over something that is a complete coincidence, or did Jack Perry just blatantly steal CM Punk’s line for no obvious reason?
